What a proper job looks like

A porch is a small building, and it deserves to be built like one. The footings go deep enough for the ground, the walls are tied into the house properly, the roof is flashed where it meets the brickwork, and the glazing is toughened where the regulations say it must be. Any quote worth accepting specifies the base build-up, names the roof material, and confirms the planning and building regulations position in writing before a spade goes in.

Our advice before hiring anyone: confirm public liability insurance, insist on an itemised written quote, ask to see a finished porch locally, and get the approvals position in writing. Any firm that won't do those four things isn't worth your money.
